She’s come home!
In June, Félicia Scott, a child of Pilgrim UCC, was called as our Interim Pastor and will officially step into our pulpit on September 6, 2015.
As a child of Pilgrim UCC, Félicia has been “reared and raised” by many of the hearts and hands that still sit in Pilgrim’s pews. She recalls her Sunday School classes led by Mary Raber and Nancy Love, her confirmation and baptism, high school (youth) activities led by Revs. Al Cummings and Steve Berry, adult classes facilitated by Revs. Barney Kitchen and then seminary student Mary Albert, and singing in the choir directed by Fred O. Her history and love of Pilgrim is deep and wide and long ~ beginning when she was in arms at five-weeks old and carried by her grandparents, Charles Earl and Naomi Scott.
We were certainly not surprised when we learned that she (finally) answered her call into ministry. We were eager to offer support and encouragement as her journey into seminary and ministry began. Having several ministers here already, we offered guidance and study tips…and she still made it through. We were very especially proud of her when she returned for a semester as a ‘student pastor’ to lead us in worship and create a new ministry in the Christian Education program under Rev. Cynthia Bumb’s supervision.
We are excited to welcome her back “home” in this role and just as excited to hear what word God has for us through her. Please help us in welcoming her. She said that she has an “open door” policy and hopes that everyone plans on stopping by for a visit no matter the day or hour – otherwise, you can expect a call from her to schedule a visit to come by and say hello.
Welcome home, Félicia!
