“What the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Join us at Pilgrim as we humbly seek to become truly and fully human, truly and fully Christian, and truly and fully alive!
Greetings from Pastor Allen Grothe
“A new commandment I give you, that you love one another. Even as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13:34-35).”
How crucial it is to remember that Jesus does not just ask us to love one another; rather he asks us to love as he loves. He asks us to offer one another the same kind of welcoming, affirming, nourishing, and ultimately transforming embrace that he shares with the world. And this is what we humbly seek to do at Pilgrim, where all are welcomed, all are affirmed, and none remain the same … because all are led by the Spirit beyond any and every kind of fear or phobia into the divine heart of love. As the novelist James Baldwin once wrote, “Love takes off the masks we fear we cannot live without yet know we cannot live within. And I use the word “love” here not merely in the personal sense but as a state of being or a state of grace—not in the infantile sense of being made happy but in the tough and universal sense of quest and daring and growth.” Let me wholeheartedly invite you, then, to come and experience the sense of quest and daring and growth arising out of the love which is shared at Pilgrim.
