Pilgrim UCC in St Louis

For members and friends of Pilgrim Congregational Church United Church of Christ

Service Sunday April 11

Pilgrim frontOn the Sunday after Easter, Pilgrims and Friends will gather for a brief service of worship in the sanctuary and then spread that service out into the community.

Though we typically refer to the major event of our congregation’s weekly life as we gather on Sunday mornings as a “worship service,” it can be easier to see the worship than the service. On April 11, the Sunday after Easter we will make the service as apparent as we can.

We will all meet in the sanctuary as usual but wear your work clothes. After prayers and hymns, the collection of our offerings and announcements, we will spread out into the community to be of service. The details of that service are still being worked out but they will at least include assembling Hygiene Kits for people who experience natural disasters and cleanup and mulching at the Community Garden behind Clark School.

This would be a great time to invite friends to come to Pilgrim. People who are wary of prayers and psalms are very comfortable with packets and picks. I know of many people who participated in service projects with organizations whose theology they were unsure of but whose service goals they easily supported.

We will be sending out a link to a Web page that you can forward to friends about this event. Be thinking about who you will invite.
