March 28 Mission Moment: Get on the Bus! By Jenny Heim

I believe that the world would be a better place if everyone took the bus once a week. Using public transportation gets you out into the world and connects you with humanity, with the faces of God, in a way that does not happen when you are alone in your car.
Public transportation is the tide that lifts all boats. If you live in a city with an excellent public transportation system, you can get where you need to go. It doesn’t matter how old you are, what your physical abilities are, whether or not you can afford a car — you can get to school, to work, to the doctor’s, and to worship!

St. Louis’ public transportation system is in danger. On Tuesday, April 6, St. Louis County voters will go to the polls and have the opportunity to vote on Proposition A. This is a 1/2 percent sales tax that would sustain and restore funding for bus, light rail, and call-a-ride services. You can learn more about Proposition A by going to the Metropolitan Congregations United (MCU) website, www.mcustl.org.

The City has already passed a similar proposal, but it cannot go into effect until the County funds Proposition A. Please learn more about Proposition A! If you live in the city, please encourage your friends in the county to learn more about Proposition A and go to the polls on Tuesday, April 6. Thank you for your consideration!
